Friday Free-For-All
It is Friday. And after a slammed week, it is the Free-For-All. Pick it. Discuss it.
Shillary is on short list to become Secretary of State. What happened to her dislike of Obama during the primaries? I guess we should be ready for universal health care.
The bailout of the auto industry seems doomed. I say GOOD! Let them fail. It will hurt in the short term but we will recover. They run a poor business model. Businesses that do that do not deserve to remain in business.
Kayne West says he is the “voice of the current generation”. Um, you do not speak for me you arrogant prick. You speak for the thugs.
Michael Vick planning to return to NFL after jail. And I bet they’ll let him in. That is perfect: let a convicted felon become a role-model.
Angelina Jolie: “I am ready to fade away.” Um. Bye.
A Pennsylvannia bus driver hits three pedestrians since 2000, killing one, and is fired. “His” union is fighting to get his job back saying past indiscretions mean nothing today. This is why unions are not needed anymore. They do nothing but stir up sh** – and charge a fee to do it.
I take Roxy up to the dealer because she has developed a metal grinding noise on the right side. One would think it has something to do with brakes. It is at the dealer for 7 hours. They tell me they cannot find anything wrong with it. then after I start to get pissy, they say they did find something but cannot determine a fix for it without further investigation. I plan to call them about every 3-5 days until the issue is resolved.
As a reminder, I have been smoke free for 440 days or about 14.5 months. I feel great. Except for the weight. And yes, I still am the world’s worst ex-smoker.
Another school losing accrediation? “The head of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools says the organization has voted to place the Haralson County schools in west Georgia on probation. Mark A. Elgart, president and chief executive officer of SACS, said investigators said they found governance problems by Haralson school board members, including micromanaging, not following their own policies and ethics violations.” Really? Micromanaging? Ethics voiolations? Say it ain’t so! School boards can be nothing more than glorified homeowners assocations. And Georgia could end with TWO school systems unaccredited. But, we should still celebrate we are 46th in the nation for education though!

Hahaha, cannot find a fix for it without further investigation…translation, we’re waiting on the Honda America engineering office to get back to us on a solution that we stand the least chance of being sued over. Been there, done that with another manufacturer before.
I’m not sure how I feel about the auto bailout. I usually am all for letting the cards fall. However, in this case I’m not so sure its the business model that was flawed. There’s something telling about that business model when they are succeeding in every market except the US. As you pointed out in another blog, the difference is unionization of the US plants. If the big three fail, you’re talking about a reduction of at least 20 million vehicles worldwide and hundreds of thousands of jobs. The effect upon the economy would be far more catastrophic than the 4-5 banks who have failed this year. Its even worse when you consider that for every manufacturing plant there tend to be 20 suppliers for parts and materials supporting the build on one vehicle alone. So, accounting for all of these, we suddenly see numbers approaching millions in just employment.
I’m leaning more towards saving them but doing it in a way that negates any previous agreements, contracts, etc. Also, a trustee should be appointed just as would be in a bankruptcy to ensure that maximum value is return to the country (get the money back and then some) over a set period of time. Otherwise, China may decide that they’d like to take over the US auto industry just as they have essentially done with the tech sector, then where are we?
