Father of the Year….

Posted in Uncategorized on June 29, 2009 by onlycritter

I wish we would hand out Father of the Year awards more often.  I’d like to nominate Joe Jackson, father of the late Michael Jackson and the other Jackson siblings.  I have watched over the last few days as Michael’s death has set in as this man has become the next Al Sharpton – a media whore who drinks the sweet nectar of the camera’s attention and pretends to give one hot damn about Michael, his children, or the rest of his family.  Joe Jackson really has nothing more on his mind than how he plans to spend Michael’s estate before someone else does.

For 45 years, this man has been mooching off of his children like a leech on one’s ankle.  He has done nothing but look really tacky in overblown gawdy outfits with hideous jewelry showing up whenever he could get his ugly mug in front of the camera.  In the African-American community where fathers are such a precious commodity, it is a shame that this lecherous thing is conveying this wannabee father image.  I feel bad for Janet, Jermaine, and the rest of the Jackson clan.  There are times where not having a father around would be more ideal – I feel this is one of those times.  And where’s the mother in all of this?  Joe should have been turned out in the street LONG ago and been forced to get a J-O-B like the rest of us.  But instead, he weaseled his way into his children’s lives forcing them to do his bidding.  Michael tried to pull away and it killed him.

I know I know – they say it was drugs and stress that killed Michael but I bet if we pull back enough layers of the onion we’ll find Slimey Joe pulling the strings.  I saw him quoted at the BET awards last night stating he felt Michael should have been recognized more in life than now in death.  Um, newsflash Joe!  Michael is the “King of Pop”!  What is it Joe, Michael did not give you enough money?  Did he not buy you enough tacky New Jersey housewife clothes to wear?  By the way, your fake teeth look as hideous as you do.  Perhaps you should just gum your food from now on.

So there you have it – I would like to nominate Joe Jackson for Father of the Year.  His good deeds have made the rest of us fathers look pale in comparison.  (OK, so pale have not have been the best choice of words.)

Joe Jackson = Loser.

Friday Free-For-All

I’m baaaaccckkkk!  Yes, I know.  It has been forever.  Leave me a comment expressing your anger and frustration with the fact I have not been keeping up with the blog.  But give me a break – I am busy you know!

Here we go!  It is Friday.  You know the drill – pick a topic.  Discuss.

OMG!  I come in from a run last night and Michael Jackson is dead!  OMG!  While he was kinda creepy, I still feel bad for him.  Too many people trying to suckle from his teat (including his own slimey father) finally drained him.  RIP.

And how much does that suck for Farrah — she dies on the same day as Michael Jackson and she promptly gets pushed to the back of the bus in the news.  She deserves an equal amount of attention.  But of course the LSM won’t do it.

So could we be seeing the beginning of the end of the theocracy in Iran?  The student becomes the martyr.  Of course Obama doesn’t quite have the words to express the US position of the fraudulent election.  This should be Obama’s “tear down this wall” speech a la Reagan but I think he’ll lose the chance.  He is more focused on printing and spending more money.

Cap and trade, which should be called cap and tax.  Somehow paying MORE for power and gasoline to solve a questionable climate issue is concerning.  Climate change = FRAUD!

Note to the SC Governor:  “don’t cry for me Argentina”.  I look forward to his book about the affair – or maybe he could be on next season’s “Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here“.  Or maybe a TV movie on Lifetime.

This is funny as hell!  Enjoy!!!  Click here.  By the way, it concludes after about 2:02 – the rest is commercials and ads.

A Forsyth County woman leaves her 5-month-old in the car while she shops.  Revoke this woman’s cash cow parenting card.

I think Jim Wooten from the AJPuke needs to just go ahead and retire.  He suggests today that a private company should just come in and double-deck the Connector.  Er, no Jim.  We should CAP the Downtown Connector and restitch Midtown and Downtown together.  (Note to readers:  I had the idea to do this BEFORE former Governor Barnes.  That is my story and I am sticking to it!)

Am I coming in clear? I say Mom, am I coming in clear?

OK, so here I am.  For the first time since April 1st on the blog.  I’ve been busy – which is a good thing.

I’ve got a lot of little topics rolling around up in my mind so I will pull them out over the next few days and get this blog-thingie back up and running.

Keeping a blog is hard!

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , on April 1, 2009 by onlycritter

On the way in this morning, I realized I have not blogged in a while. In fact, a LONG while – well, if you do not count the Friday Free-For-Alls which are really nothing more than a couple of sound bites. So I sat down and started to make a list of potential topics to talk about in a new posting: the economy; the G-20 summit; my results with the half-marathon last weekend; Sperm and his dichotomous school things. All of these things are good topics and worthy of a good write up but just finding the time recently has been – well, impossible. And I guess that is a good thing. The new job – which is not so new anymore since I am in week 7 – is sailing along famously. I am constantly in the middle of something and it feels great! I do have to attend a rather large amount of meetings but generally speaking, my workload has not really suffered. I have made some good friends and already feel like one of the team. Now, I will not lie – the wearing of a tie everyday (except Friday) is not one of the things I like. But I am a “middle-manager” now – I need to dress the part, right?

I am truly lucky. I was able to find something so soon after getting the boot at the urs. As you, my faithful reader knows, I am not a deeply religious kinda guy. But there was something/someone looking over me during that drama. I still have several friends that are looking for employment of any sort. This economy has dried up nearly every lead. Maybe once the stimulus funding starts to flow that additional opportunities will present themselves. Or maybe they’ll retool their thinking to start something new. Meanwhile, I cannot watch the news anymore. It is always so depressing. Job loss, bailouts, blaming, banking, credit, toxic assets, housing bust, greed – you cannot watch 30 minutes of news without hearing one of these words.

Suffice it to say, I was lucky.

Friday Free-For-All

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on March 13, 2009 by onlycritter

Yes, it is the Friday Free-For-All.  But before we dive in, I need to let you know why there was no Free-For-All last week.

My wonderful grandmother passed away on March 2 at 98.  Wife, mother of three, grandmother of four, great-grandmother of two, friend, confidant.  She lived a full, rewarding life and left the way she wanted to – in her sleep.  She is missed.  So, as you pick a topic and discuss today, think of my grandmother, this entry is dedicated to her.

In Memory of Laura Arrington Chovan, 1910-2009.

So this Madoff fellow goes directly to jail without passing GO.  Does this mean the Ponzi Scheme being run by the government should also be convicted and sent to jail?  I’m not sayin, I’m just sayin.

A woman jumps from the North Springs MARTA Station ramp over 400 yesterday and later dies.  Shame.

Palin’s daughter and her fiance break up.  And this is news why?

In just 50 days, Congress has voted to spend about $1.2 trillion between the Stimulus and the Omnibus.  To put that in perspective, that’s about $24 billion a day, or about $1 billion an hour.  Is it me or is that kinda scary?

Is it me or is the Obama Administration like a bunch of teenagers hanging out during summer recess in a field like in “Dazed and Confused” basically running the country from the back of an envelope.

Timothy Geithner is a tax cheat.  And he runs the IRS.  Talk about creditability issues.

Headline:  “Dealing with Obama regime ‘unbelievably hard’ says British Government”.  What about reaching out to world governments.  Hell, at least Bush would return a phone call.

And could the honeymoon finally be over?  Obama’s approval numbers are now that of Bush’s in the same time in Bush’s first term – before 9/11.  Hmmmmm.  Does this mean the polls are now racist too?

Did you see this:  http://www.buzzfeed.com/endswell/octomom-costume-creeps-me-out-3f2  Priceless!!!

So this guy goes around and kills 9 in a couple of towns in south Alabama.  Do not get me wrong here – I grieve for the father who lost his wife and child as well as the other victim’s families.  But let’s not try to “blame” what this loser did on something/someone else like the LSM is doing.  The fact is that he did not make any productive contribution to his society, community, church, school, or life.  He says his dreams went unfulfilled.  Well sir, those that sit waiting to win the lottery or have their ship come in will be waiting for a very long time.  I wish he would have lived.  And had a picture of that 18-month girl tattooed on the palm of his hand.

Headline:  “Joaquin Phoenix involved in a brawl while performing at a Miami night club.”  Pyscho.  Can someone say “Andy Kauffman?”  Here’s my prediction – he’ll be dead in a year.

Fulton County begins to inventory everything in the county government.  Um, good luck with that.  Maybe it’ll be done when Sperm has his first grandkid.

Have I mentioned I love my job?  No really.  I REALLY LOVE IT!

Friday Free-For-All

YEAH!  It is Friday and it is the Free-For-All.  Pick a topic.  Discuss.  Enjoy.  Repeat.

I start with this Friday funny: http://www.majhost.com/gallery/kolelarson/Fark/dixie.jpeg

Headline: “Ryanair (discount airline in England) is considering charging passengers £1 ($1.40) to use the lavatory on its flights, according to chief executive Michael O’Leary.” Seriously? Is this where we have come? Pay to pee? Although – pay for mile-high club….

Warning to my friend David: “A Russian man, 28, died after guzzling a bottle of Viagra to keep him going for a 12-hour orgy with two female pals.”Gena Evans fired by GDOT Board Thursday. Last nail in the coffin of the Board in its current incarnation? Maybe, if the Governor has his way. But Ms. Evans brought this on herself. Some say she was brought in for the sole purpose of dissolving the GDOT Board. The reality of the situation is that she was a breath of fresh air in a very stale agency. I hope the staff at GDOT can recover. There are a lot of good folks that do not deserve this.

And by the way, let’s give a shout out to Sonny who FINALLY after six years in office decides to have a chat about transportation in this state. It is not the ideal situation – less political, whatev – but at least he is talking about it.

Headline: “In December, the City Council in Brighton, Mich., passed an ordinance making it illegal for anyone to be “annoying” in public, “by word of mouth, sign or motions.” Violators can be ticketed and fined.” Can I submit this ordinance here? Please? I’ve got a list of several people who would be fined.

One month and counting until the half-marathon! Could I be training more? Yes. Am I ready? Absolutely!! Bring it!

Are you watching Survivor? I have already grown tired of Coach. Yawn. Vote him off.

Are you watching Amazing Race? The Asian dude is like me to the power of 10. I hope they come in last.

The condo is nearly ready for the market. I wonder if I simply go into foreclosure if the Nanny Government will come save me. Nope. I did it right. No bailout for me. I was actually responsible. What a novel concept.

Cautiously optimistic and eagerly waiting

Like many of you, I watched the President speak last night on TV. Most of what I heard was encouraging. I felt like our leaders (if I dare call them that) are looking to use every tool in their box to get things moving again. I was not pleased to hear that CEOs and bank presidents will not be taking junkets to Vegas nor having $10,000 spa treatments on my dime. I was pleased to hear that relief is coming to those who got burned by the tanking of the housing market (that may include me). I was generally pleased with O’s agenda of the “three issues”: energy, health care, and education. HOWEVER, (and you know this word would appear!), I am anxiously watching what the impact of all of this intervention by the government will create.

When it comes to energy, I am all for finding a “non-oil” solution. But that solution CANNOT INCLUDE FOOD! The fact we are using corn products to burn as fuel and that this is subsidized by the government is why the cereal boxes get smaller and smaller while the price stays the same or increases. I am all for putting up solar panels and using turbine farms to capture wind as long as it is affordable to me. Do not charge me triple for electricity because of solar energy. If my power bill goes from $70 to $240, then I need and will require an equal amount be added to my paycheck in the form of a tax cut. (I pay too many taxes as it is.) I’ll drive a hybrid car as long as I know it can get me from work to home to Sperm and back on one charge or fill-up or whatever. If I cannot do my normal routine, then I do not want it. In terms of O’s healthcare discussion, I am much more concerned about it. When I am 70 and need surgery for cancer, the government cannot and should not tell me “too expensive, you get nothing” like they do in Canada and Great Britain. Deal with the cost issue, but do not put a Federal bureaucrat in an office on K Street in Washington the power to deny an old person the access to treatment. And please, please, please, do not revisit HillaryCare. What a disaster in the 90s, what a disaster now. Lastly, O discussed education. Every President since Washington was promised reform of education yet I am still not pleased with what I see. Sperm’s education consists of simply earning the bare minimum to get to the next test. Be it the CRCT or Iowa Basics or other standardized test, the ability to have creative, independent thought is removed in favor of ramroding the curriculum down the throats of kids who are more interested in American Idol and video games. Hold teachers accountable, fire the bad ones, give me a choice. These things will help. And by the way Mr. President, do not lecture me on the parenting thing. I get it. And while I know you were speaking to other adults out there that use their kids as tax deductions and social flair, I felt a little preached to.

All in all, I heard many of the same things as has been reported ad nauseum in the press. Yet, I really did not hear anything new. And while it is not kosher to criticize O openly, I feel I have to ask, at what price are we going to “stimulate” this economy? Will these “suggestions” he has actually institute change or be more of the same rhetoric we’ve heard from all of the Presidents since Kennedy? Missus said something that I think is dead on – the government is trying to use the same failed tools to fix the failed system. There is nothing new. So, Mr. President, I’ll be watching. And voting in 2011.

Friday Free-For-All

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , on February 20, 2009 by onlycritter

It is Friday. It is Free-For-All. It is alive and well! You know the drill. Topic. Discuss. Repeat.

I am willing to bet that these people who are starving for a mortgage bailout also have an Escalade in the driveway, a 60” plasma TV in the den hooked to an Xbox 360 and wear Ralph Lauren clothes. Sell off the assets first, then bailout the rest.

CNBC’s Rick Santelli: “The new administration is big on computers and technology – how about this, President and new administration? Why don’t you put up a Web site to have people vote on the Internet as a referendum to see if we really want to subsidize the losers’ mortgages, or would we like to at least buy cars and buy houses in foreclosure and give them to people that might have a change to actually prosper down the road and reward people that could carry the water instead of drink the water.” Amen.

Hmmmm, methinks something is afoot. The White House moves the 2010 Census out of the Commerce Department which basically allows the WH to come up with any number they want. I bet there will be a whole bunch of new voters after 2010 – all voting Democrat.

This Octomom needs to have the kids removed and then she needs to check into a mental hospital. Our society has so sensationalized this event that we put this girl on the TV and idolize her. I really feel bad for the taxpayers of California and for the children here. Here’s a prediction – I bet a few will not live past 30 due to the f-ed up childhood they’ll have.

And while on the subject – is it me or did she have “work”? I guess she’ll need more to get rid of the baby fat.

Headline: Woman shot – bullet gets stuck in hair weave. This lady owes her hairdresser some serious love

I said it a while back and I’ll say it again – let the auto industry go bankrupt. GM is once again claiming doom and gloom if they do not get MORE cash from taxpayers. They’ve put Saturn, Hummer, and Saab on the block. Let’s put the union on the block too! Isn’t strange that while hurting, Honda, Toyota, Nissan, VW, BMW, Mercedes, and Audi aren’t in Washington looking for money.

Bush is in office and the Democrats scream about the lack of funds for Katrina victims and the Gulf Coast. Now, King O is in office, the Stimulus Bill has virtually nothing in it specifically earmark for the Gulf Coast, and the Democrats could care less. Yet another example of the double-standard displayed by every leftie out there.

0 to 600 in a week! (and other things, too)

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , on February 17, 2009 by onlycritter

You know…keeping up with a blog is kinda difficult! I have become resigned to the fact that daily updates are just impossible! Two very short weeks ago, I had a TON of time on my hands. I could have blogged everyday. Trust me – I had the time. Now, I am literally running as fast as I can and I cannot find time to blog. Do not get me wrong here. I LOVE the fact I am running a hundred miles an hour. This new job feels really good to me thus far. It is as if it was created with me in mind. For all of last week and today, I feel like I put in a productive day and earned my pay. This is what it felt like at ARC during the middle years. I was always busy – always pulled in one direction or another. And I have realized that I crave that! When at the urs, I felt like I was spinning my wheels. It was start, stop, start, stop. There was never any continuity. (By the way, I am more convinced than ever that I am not private sector material. Maybe in the future — but not right now.) We just hired the Planner job that will report to me. He’ll start in a few weeks. And then it is off to the races. Me, a division manager. Cool. I am David Haynes, dammit.

So I noted that King O signed the $787 quadrillion bazillion “stimulus bill” today. Otherwise known as “New Deal II: We Did It To Ourselves Again!” Alls I know is that if it means I can unload this condo faster, bring it on. Of course, Sperm and Diva’s children may not want to thank Grandaddy though. LOL!

Friday Free-For-All

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , on February 13, 2009 by onlycritter

Yes, after many many many weeks, it has returned!  The Friday Free-For-All!  Do you remember the drill?  Pick a topic, discuss, repeat.  Enjoy!

$800 billion “stimulus plan” equates to an extra $26 in my pay bucket. Um, I guess I need to thank someone for allowing me to keep the equivalent of one tank of gas…or 1/3 of my groceries…or a dinner out for the Missus and I. And in return, Sperm and Diva’s children will get to pay off the debt!

Started a new job this week after a six week “vacation” and I could not be more happy. Really, I am just glad to be an active member of society again.

King O is 0 for 2 with his Commerce Secretary selections as his second one has withdrawn. But of course, no one will note that two of his picks (one confirmed, the other not) are tax-cheats.

I am glad I do not live in California. As a taxpayer, I would have to pay for that crazy woman to have 14 children. The medical bills for her most recent eight children could top $2 million. Um, I am the last person to dictate how people should procreate, but a single mom and 14 children? And is it me or did she have some work done? She looks like a female Joker.

This is really upsetting to me. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/article2233878.ece

Missus and I have been cohabitating for three weeks now and we are still together! Can you believe it? But I will admit something – living with a 12-year-old girl (Diva) is definitely a lesson in parenting for me. Girls are WAY different than boys – beyond the obvious of course.

I really need to suck it up – I am still scheduled to run the half-marathon in late March and I am way behind in the training. With the late nights and darkness, it is difficult to find the time. I need to suck it up!

The Daytona 500 is Sunday. Go # 14 Office Depot Chevy driven by Tony Stewart! I could care less if he wins. If he can finish in the top 15, I think that would be a major accomplishment. By the way, he starts 5th!

Interested in buying a condo? It’ll be on the market in the next two weeks or so.
